Alexander Klose

Alexander J. Klose, 82, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on March 19th after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the devoted husband of his late wife Dolores, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories.

He was a proud father to Cathy Barron (Joe), Andrew May (Michelle), Ryan May (Deana), his late son Francis May and his late wife Denise. As a grandfather, he was known as “Gramps” to Joseph (Sarah), Ryan (Valerie), Lindsay (Remo), Ryan E., Colleen (William), Andrew Jr.(Brianna), and Joseph. His legacy extended further with the joy of being a Great Gramps to Jasper, Georgia, Remo, Elliot, Van, Cooper, and Liam. He loved his cats, Paris and Heidi.

He will be missed by his dear family friends and the best neighbors, John and Karen Matthews and their families, who were like an extended part of his own family.

Alexander is the cherished son of the late Alex Sr. and Miriam Klose. Brother of the late Mary and Nancy and brother-in-law of Thomas Morris.

Alex was in the army reserves and a machinist, known to be able to fix anything and make friends wherever he went in life.

His true passion, however, was his love for the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, Alexander found peace and joy in nature. He also had a deep fondness for trains and took great pride in creating beautiful, scenic train platforms that blended harmoniously with the landscapes he cherished.

With a camera in hand, he was always capturing footage and photos of his beloved family—his greatest treasure. His camera never stopped recording the moments that mattered most to him: family gatherings, milestones, and the laughter of those he loved. Above all, he was a family man—his greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones.

He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, love for adventure, and unwavering dedication to his family.

All are invited to Alexander’s viewing and funeral mass on Tuesday, March 25th at St. Jerome Church (8100 Colfax St., Philadelphia, PA 19136) from 9:30 am-10:30 am in the church. There will be a funeral mass at 10:30 am. Interment will be held privately by his family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Alexander’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

He will be forever missed but never forgotten. We love you too much, Gramps.

I have so many fond memories of Uncle Alex. He was always so kind and always had the biggest smile and he was just so much fun! I remember swimming at him and Aunt Dee’s house, the vast movie collection he had (seriously at least 1,000 movies, who needed blockbuster) trips to the Pocono’s and how he always had that Cam Corder in hand capturing every moment with pride and joy. He was even the videographer for my wedding! I remember how much he loved my beautiful Aunt, their love was inspiring. I hope they are reunited and dancing, singing and loving for eternity. Sending love to all of you. Rest in Peace, Uncle Al!
