Francis Ralph Turchi, age 69, passed away on August 11, 2024. Beloved father of Frank Turchi (Jaclyn) and the late John Turchi. Devoted Pop Pop of Jason, Gianna, Riley and Toby. Son of the late Frank and Caroline Turchi and loving brother of Regina Trama (the late Anthony), the late Caroline Turchi, Marie Jefferes, Paul Turchi, the late John Turchi, Ryan Turchi and Richard Turchi (Cheri). He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Frank was a thoroughbred horse trainer who worked at Philly Park for many years. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation and funeral on Thursday, August 15, from 11:30am – 1:00pm at McCafferty Funeral Home 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr sts) There will be a prayer service at 1:00pm. Further arrangements will be held in private by his family.

Virginia McGuckin

Virginia McGuckin, of Philadelphia, PA, peacefully passed away on August 3, 2024, at the age of 101 . Virginia was a dedicated retiree of the IRS. She was the beloved wife of the late James McGuckin. Virginia was a cherished mother to Joseph McGuckin (Barbara), Kathleen Madden, Patricia Chubb (Kenneth), and the late James McGuckin. She was a loving grandmother to Tara, Matthew (Debbie), Eric (Deborah), Don (Leslie), Andrea (Brian), Stephanie, Melinda (John), Lauren, and the late Michael (Christine), a great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandmother to one great-great-grandson. Virginia is survived by her brother Richard, along with many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Her siblings Theresa, Ronald, and William predeceased her. Family and friends are invited to attend Virginia’s viewing and funeral on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc., located at 6711 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19135 (between Unruh and Knorr Sts.), from 9:15 am to 10:15 am. A prayer service will follow at 10:15 am in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Beverly National Cemetery, 916 Bridgeboro Rd, Beverly, NJ 08010.

Artur V. Mendes, of Philadelphia PA, born in Portugal, sadly passed away August 3, 2024, at the age of 73. Loving husband of Manuela Ribeiro. Cherished father of Raquel Mendes, Susana Mendes, Paulo Mendes, and Felipe Mendes. Further arrangements will be held by his family.

Pedro A. Valentin, of the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia, passed away suddenly on August 2, 2024, at age 32. Beloved husband of Yoscarina Erasme Grullon. Loving father of Austin Valentin, Loving son of Angelica Valentin and Miguel Cordero. Brother of Gres Cordero, Alexander Cordero, Greysha Cordero. Sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and one nephew. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing and funeral on Wednesday, August 14, from 9:30am - 11:00am at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr sts) There will be a prayer service at 11:00am Further arrangements will be held in private by his family.
