Robert J. Reed

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Joseph James Reed, who succumbed to his battle with cancer at the age of 70.

He is welcomed home by the loving arms of his mother Emma Dolores “Dot”, father Archiebald “Archie”, and sister Janice “Jan”.

He is survived by his dedicated wife of 49 years, Marlene Reed, his loving daughters Kimberly Zufolo (Brian) and Kelly Reed, and by his cherished grandchildren, Anthony and Brandon Zufolo. He will be missed by his adoring fur grandbabies, Nala, Ash, and Kermit, as well as his beloved extended family.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in blue in the Philadelphia Police Department, where he served 36 years with honor, service, and integrity.

He embodied those same ideals in his personal life as well. Bob was guided as much by his strong moral code as by his heart of gold. He was known to have a soft spot for animals and a youthful, playful spirit that endeared him to all, especially children.

His quiet strength, quick wit, and generous heart will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing and funeral on Wednesday, July 30th, from 9:30 am – 11:00 am at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc., 6711 Frankford Ave. There will be a eulogy service starting at 11:00 am, where stories and memories will be shared. Further arrangements will be held in private by his family. Please omit flowers and kindly consider donations in Robert’s memory to one of the following charities that were close to his heart.

Bob will truly be missed as a wonderful, kind neighbor and human being. We will miss our conversations across the fence that would start as a quick question one of us had but lead to a much longer conversation, always. We could go on and on, it was easy to talk to Bob. He was knowledgeable, never judged anyone, and just was a great person. Our heart breaks for his girls and his grandsons that he was so proud to have. We cannot imagine what Marlene is going through right now and what it’s going to look like ahead for her, as it was always Bob and Marlene. Just know he’s not suffering anymore and will be your angel above looking down on you all. Cherish the 49 years you had together, it was special. You modeled what a long lasting, happy marriage looks like for all who knew you both. Funny story, when Frank plays his playlist, Bob said, “Frank, I love the play list, but you have to get rid of that one song, Biggie Smalls”. Guess Biggie was not for Bob, even know Bob was a big, kind hearted guy. You will be missed Bob, thank you for serving our city (always felt a lil more protected with you living next door), thank you for being a kind neighbor and demonstrated to all who knew you what a great father, grandfather, husband and just what good in general looks like. Rest in peace 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️. Linda and Frank Raddi
