John L. Binkley
Shared Memories
Roger Blackburn
He was an “adult” private trumpet student when I first became a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra, who had some serious physical issues which he researched and was treated for most successfully. One of my favorite memories of him was when he took a summer hiatus from trumpet lessons then returned in the fall looking much more slim and trim! After I asked him if he had lost weight, he answered, “No, I just bought bigger clothes”! He was always very respectful to me and I have nothing but positive memories of him.

Worked with him often in high school. A great guy. He called me a few months ago. Great to hear from him.

Many years ago John played in a group of horn players on Christmas Eve , serenading at my parents house and many other households. It is a very happy memory that I treasure. Thanks Bink ! Rest In Peace.

John was a wonderful friend of my husband, Stu. They were shooting buddies (pistols) and enjoyed each other’s company. They spoke so often on the phone, that I teased that John was my husband’s girlfriend. John, you will be missed. Rest peacefully and while you ask our Lord to look down lovingly on your wife, Mary we will try to be there for her too.
