Laurence Joseph Mathis Sr.

April 30th, 2021
Laurence Joseph Mathis Sr. “Larry”. Larry ascended into the arms of our Lord on the 29th Day of March 2021 at 1:58 am during a peaceful slumber . He grew up in the Rhawnhurst section of Philadelphia until he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1971 at the age of 17. Larry earned several medals during his 3 yrs of active duty and continued his service for another 3 years in the reserves until he was discharged under honorable conditions. Larry worked hard all his life. For the most of his career he was a master carpenter. He never slowed down and there was nothing Larry could not build or fix. He instilled this hard working ethic and dedication to do good in both of his sons. You can see those values resonate through his sons on a daily basis which is now being passed down to his grandchildren. Larry enjoyed cooking, attending flea markets, car shows, helping people and supporting our troops any way that he could, but above all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Larry’s memory continues to live on with us through his loving partner of 25 yrs,  Darleen McDonald, his sons, Larry Jr. (Olivia Konrad) and Bryan and his grandchildren, Larry, Johnny and Skylar. He also survived by his siblings Patricia Mathis, Helen Diehl (Michael Mathers), Raymond Mathis (Rosemary Tottoroto) and his cousin Rose Mary Keane. Larry was predeceased by his parents Helen and Alphonse along with his brothers, Gerald and Michael . He will be laid to rest at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in the upcoming weeks on a date that is to be determined.
