June 2nd, 2020

Diane Fetters Murphy, 67 of Ventnor City, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday May 29, 2020. Diane graduated from West Catholic Girls’ High School in 1970. She then attended a program at Misericordia Hospital to become an EKG Technician and went on to work for the Police & Fire Medical Association. In 1978, Diane became a police officer for the City of Philadelphia – following in the footsteps of her father. She was proud to be a sharp shooter and won many awards for doing so while with the Police Department. Diane remained a police advocate long after she retired to raise her children.

Diane always loved drinking her morning cup of tea. She enjoyed coaching her children’s basketball teams for Saint Albert the Great CYO as well as cheering on the Philadelphia Flyers. Her favorite place to travel was Skyline Drive in Virginia with the love of her life and husband of 30 years, Robert Murphy. Diane loved taking care of babies, especially her granddaughters. Spending time driving around with the girls and singing Lady Gaga was time that Diane cherished, as well as buying them tickets to Wonderland Pier so she could watch them enjoy the rides.

Diane loved the City of Ventnor and beach days that lasted past dinner time. She enjoyed walking her dog, Kai, on the beach during the winter, making porcelain dolls at Kay Jay’s in Ocean City, NJ, and cheering for the Ventnor City Beach Patrol at the lifeguard races. Diane loved to share champagne with friends while singing karaoke from her deck on Newark Avenue. She also enjoyed nights out frequenting the Surf & Turf Buffet at the Hilton Casino with her family and loved playing the slots & winning! Diane was a fierce soul & will be missed dearly.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents George & Eileen Fetters of Philadelphia. Diane is survived by her husband Robert Murphy and their six children Caroline (Jerry) Jiampetti, Kathleen (Robert) Demarco, Paul, Robert (Natalie), Kerrie and Briana. She is also survived by her three siblings Donna Woehlcke, George (Sharon), and Robert (Lisa) as well as her ten grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
