Barbara Ann Katen

Barbara Ann (née Majkowski) Katen, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021, at home with her daughters Colleen Katen & Elisa (née Katen) Bevans by her side after a long and courageous battle fighting cancer. She was born September 22nd, 1949, in Philadelphia, to Walter “Walt” and Viola (née Yeliozynski) Majkowski. She had four siblings Viola (née Majkowski) Johnson (m. Harry “Buzzie”), Theresa (née Majkowski) Vanderslice, Eleanor “Cookie” (née Majkowski) Iehle and Matthew Majkowski (m. Kathy). Barbara was a kind soul who opened her heart and home to all who needed a place to call home. She lived life through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, cooking dinner, and feeding all who sat at her table. Barbara had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She made Christmas the most magical time of year for her family; you could say it was her most favorite time of the year. She had a great love for all animals especially wolves and if you walked into the house, I bet she had an animal show on. Her greatest pleasure came on January 8, 2009,with the birth of her only grandchild Bella-Luna Breanna Nean. She showed such pride in her daughters and granddaughter. She is survived by her two daughters, Colleen Marie Katen (m. Scott A. Stevens), Elisa Ann (née Katen) Bevans (m. Jerry Michael Bevans), granddaughter Bella-Luna Breanna Nean as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Barbara would never want her loved ones standing over her casket crying so; Family, friends, and others whose  lives Barbara touched will be invited to a Celebration of Life luncheon to be scheduled at a later date. So that all can reminisce, give support and just chat about this wonderful light who is at peace now.
