William Mills

After a long illness, Reverend William Lawrence Mills departed this life, on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in Philadelphia, PA; where he resided for the past twenty-five years. “Lawrence” was born to Earnest and Marjorie Mills on November 16, 1950, in Charleston, WV.  Lawrence was a graduate of DuPont High School, Belle, WV, West Virginia State College, Institute, WV and the Lutheran Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. Lawrence previously served as a sergeant in the United States Army, the Charleston, West Virginia Police Department, and he was an employee of Union Carbide. Lawrence was ultimately led to become a minister in 1981 and he continued to do so for over thirty years.  While in West Virginia, he formerly served as pastor of the Pilgram Home Baptist Church, St. Albans, West Virginia. Reverend William Lawrence Mills leaves behind his six children, Trina (Eddie) Sweeney; Melanie Mills of Charleston, WV; Michelle (Dorian) Williams of Tifton, GA; Aaron Mills of Charleston, WV; Jazzmyn Mills; William Mills, Jr. of Philadelpia, PA; and seven grandchildren. He also leaves behind brothers and a sister, Gerald Mills, David (Joycelyn) Mills of Charleston, WV; and Donna (Gilbert) Braxton, Lexington, KY and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial Services will be held at Levi First Missionary Baptist Church in Rand, WV at Noon on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.
