Thomas R. Henderson

Thomas R. Henderson, formerly of Northeast Philadelphia, originally from “”Devil’s Pocket”, passed away on September 13th, 2021, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family,  at age 86. Tom was a devoted family man and father who worked as an elevator mechanic in Local #5 for over 30 years. Tom’s devotion to the game of basketball allowed him to be recognized in the Philadelphia Old Timers Hall of Fame in 1998. Tom was also inducted into the Southeast Catholic Basketball Hall of Fame. Tom shared his talents while coaching both grade school and high school CYO basketball. Beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Barrett). Loving father of Thomas R. Henderson, Lynn Ford (Dave), Missy Quinn (Paul) and John Henderson. Devoted Poppie of Tara (Brendan), Kevin (Mariah), Madison, Jordan, Paul, Meghan, Jada, JJ and Cole. G-Poppie of Declan and Teagan. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing and funeral on Saturday, September 25th from 9:00-10:30am in St. Jerome RC Church (Stamford & Colfax Sts) There will be a funeral mass at 10:30am with burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
