Jonathan David Matos

April 30th, 2020

Jonathan David Matos passed away on the morning of April 30, 2020 at the age of 29. He was a generous, warm-hearted man who gave of himself genuinely and fully. Through his creativity he strove to lift others up, to encourage people to be brave and honest, and to overcome any obstacle. Born with a muscle disease, scoliosis, and many other physical problems, he never let them be an excuse, but was always daring to do what anyone else would have thought impossible for someone with such disabilities. He published a novel, Cane and Able, based on his experiences growing up with a muscle disease. He also started numerous podcasts and encouraged his artistic friends in online stores and streams such as Unboxing Story and Strider Talk. He will be sorely missed by his mother, Roberta Matos, his sisters, Melissa Matos and Sarah Scudder, his grandmother Mary Colquhoun, and his girlfriend Megan Donnelly, as well as his church family at Bethel Chapel Church, and many friends from LaSalle college and CAPPA high school in Philadelphia. We know he will find rest with Our Lord, and joy in a place where he can walk and run and jump and never stumble again. Because of the current health concerns, Jonathan’s services will be held at a later date.
