Michael T. Ward, of the Tacony section of Philadelphia, passed away on October 24th, 2018, at the age of 57. Loving husband of Maryann Ward (nee Koukias). Loving son of Margaret Ward and the late John Ward. Brother of Sean Ward (Susan), Peggy Anne Weisler, Brian Ward (Sally), Eileen Cutts (Kevin), Danny Ward and Bobby Ward. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Michael was a veteran of the US Navy. Serving in VS-37 out of North Island San Diego on the USS Constellation as an airplane mechanic/ technician. Mike went to North Catholic where he played ice hockey. He later worked as a baker at Twin Donuts. Afterwards he worked as an electrical technician/assembler at Insinger on State Rd. He loved animals and rescued many dogs off of the streets. He also loved to play guitar and sing at home. He was a jack of all trades and could build or fix just about anything. Michael also loved nature and the outdoors and often vacationed with his wife Maryann in Maine and Vermont always taking his beloved dogs Rocky, Rebel, and Blackwolf and all others with him. He was always willing to help out a friend or family member whenever they needed him. Just as the heroes in his favorite films “Spartacus” and “Braveheart” fought their battles, he fought a valiant and brave fight with cancer He will be dearly missed by his loving wife and family. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember and celebrate Michael’s life on Thursday November 1st at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr Sts). You may visit and comfort the Ward Family during the viewing from 10:00AM to 12:00 noon in the Funeral Home. There will be a Prayer Service at 12:00 noon. Burial to follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Michael’s memory to Fox Chase Cancer Center.
